We have an opening for an outdoor educator. Job responsibilities for this position include leading & supporting outdoor, nature-based, hands-on activities with our two younger groups (grades K – 2 and 3 – 4). On our two-acre campus we have a small barn with a variety of tools and other hand work materials; an apple orchard; a greenhouse; pollinator, vegetable, and herb gardens; bird houses; a cobb oven; a large sand and water area; and other outdoor spaces. We are looking for someone with the knowledge and experience to contribute to our extensive outdoor education program; to work with our two youngest groups to facilitate outdoor activities for them; and to lead outdoor, nature-based workshops with all ages.

We also need someone who can help generally with our two older groups (grades 5 – 6 and 7 – 8), subbing and providing assistance as needed.

We are looking for someone who can teach a math class to a small group of 4th/5th graders as well. This could be included as part of this position to increase the number of hours for the right person.

We are looking for someone to work collaboratively on our close staff team, someone who is:

  • A clear communicator with strong social skills
  • Good at the give and take of reciprocal conversation and problem solving
  • Flexible and adaptive
  • A quick and independent learner
  • Comfortable interacting with children of all ages
  • Able to wear many hats over the course of a day
  • A good fit for our team

The position is 20 – 25 hours per week and follows a school calendar that includes breaks including summers. We are also hiring an Administrative Coordinator to manage the school office and other administrative responsibilities. The Part-Time Educator position could be combined with the Administrative Coordinator position for the right person, to create a full-time position.
