We are starting our annual Harvest Serve-a-Thon! This fall fundraiser combines Red Cedar’s spirit of community and service with support of our Scholarship Fund. A Serve-a-Thon is similar to a Walk-a-Thon or a Bike-a-Thon. Sponsors are asked to pledge money toward our effort. Students and teachers volunteer by harvesting (aka gleaning) produce at a local farm. The harvest is brought to a local food shelf, with 100% of the pledge money rewarding our scholarship fund and crediting your fundraising obligation.
We will be gleaning at New Leaf Organics farm in early November.
Please note again: 100% of the funds you raise can be applied to your yearly fundraising commitment. During the next few weeks, you are encouraged to solicit and collect pledges. The attached fundraising letter can be mailed, handed out, and/or sent via e-mail. A sheet is also attached for tracking and tallying your pledges. Please keep in mind that individual donations can be for any amount – from as small as $5.00 to $50 and beyond! All donations are tax deductible. If your employer has a matching gifts program, we can provide you the necessary information to submit your request. This is a great opportunity to solicit donations from “out of town” family and friends! Sponsors should make checks payable to Red Cedar School.
Pledge forms and donations should be returned to the school in an envelope with your family’s name by Tuesday, November 26th.The Harvest Serve-a-Thon is a fun and meaningful event as students make the connection between farm and the family table. Thanks in advance for your support and participation!
