Our middle school group is underway with a year-long focus in language arts on African American history, race and racism. Along with the upper elementary group they have been doing a weekly singing class this fall with Vermont singer and activist Avery Book, learning African American spirituals, work songs, play songs, and some American Civil Rights songs. They’ll be performing these and presenting learning about the period of slavery in America in amongst the songs on the morning of Friday, December 14 from 8:30 – 9:30 am.
